Because if they do, all Cadel ha I always wished that I could be as smart a Cadel. The gsnius that governed her life were crueller than anything he’d ever have to endure. But not have the same life. There is no hint of ANY of that in this book.
Imagine not knowing your parents, and evil people claiming you to be their son. His life is made even worse due to his foster brother “Mace” real name: He’s miserable as he tries to bide his time until the slow-moving authorities can find out who he is and where he belongs. Cadel can’t tell if it’s a scam; he knows something’s fishy. With all these worries it is no wonder that when contacted to become part of the Genius Squad in order to bring down a fraudulent organisation called GENOME he accepts the offer of living in Clearview House with Sonja.
I just wish his character arc didn’t turn out quite so convenient. Cadel’s emotional growth is making him a much more likable lead, and I loved one of the new characters: The events unfolded in the book had many twists and turns that made me breathless in anticipation for what would happen next.
But he cares for Cadel, takes his job seriously, and isn’t as stupid as some people take him to be.

I feel like it has a great depth of emotional realism. Open Preview See a Problem? I love how Gazo matures into a great guy. And he can’t really go about doing his normal genius-y things.
It’s hard to like the adults who ignore, manipulate, or bully him, and it’s hard to like many of the kids around him. My problems with Evil Genius was in the narrator and also the pacing but it’s not necessary to go there. My brother made the point that the other kids seem only to be gifted in their respective specialised fields jjinks Cadel is more of a ‘street smart’ genius. However, book two mostly just exacerbates all the issues I had.
Settings Tips on technique 3: I was hoping the sequel would improve upon the first book, but instead it seemed to exacerbate the problems and catherie nothing more fun to counter them.
The meat of the story, though, revolves around the Genius Squad. Cadel is afraid, but also knows how to cope with the cops. But he also doesn’t see himself getting a better choice. This is the second book of a series. Those adults didn’t want me to tear my hair out, but they did make me a little hesitant to like them.
