Connect a Frequency counter to TP The connector on the main PCB is a 5 wire connector. As a licenced amateur radio operator, I am publishing this information for the use and benefit of the ham community.
My philosophy is that unless you have been to engineering school and have access to CAD equipment and network analyzers, don’t dink with the RF strip.
Cut the Yellow wire from pin 3 of the Mic plug. Usually the Violet wire usually Red in the Lincoln. With the radio upside down and the PLL board facing you, Remove the four screws in each corner of the pll board. Remove the four screws from the bottom cover and remove the cover. Even if you don’t go the full route and install new lamps with a different color filter, the cooling holes mahual the LCD holder are probably a good idea.
Remove the cover on the speaker side of the radio. I have not tried this mod, If anyone else has, please let me know the results. The right coil labeled L, adjusts CW.

Tie a jumper wire from the thru plate via hole at the end of the trace the bare end of the 10K ohm Resistor. Remove the top and bottom covers. Don’t rely on a modulation meter, the only way to see what is really going on is to monitor the RF output with a scope.
Be sure to give them the HTX catalog number,as well. I bought mine from the friendly folks at Bill’s 2-way. Inserting the red filter requires h2510 disassembly of the LCD holder, so don’t try this if you are all thumbs!

Use the instructions in Mod 3 or Mod 4, they are correct. Probably not worth it, especially with the solid-state amps that are out there on the market.
You can see this mod in my schematic of the RIT shifter for the crystal filter mod. If you operate a lot of AM, however, this mod may not be for you. The AMC control will still function so using a modulation meter you will be able to set it to avoid overmodulation.
